Last year we announced our plans to expand and grow our team in India. Today, I’m proud to share that we are opening a cutting-edge development center in Hyderabad and an office in Bengaluru. In addition to our existing space in Chennai, these new offices will give teams a place to innovate and bring fresh, local perspectives to our products and services.

Breaking ground in Hyderabad and Bengaluru

India is one of the world's largest and fastest-growing hubs for technology – and it’s also where I grew up and found my passion for engineering. Our office space in Hyderabad is nestled in HITEC City and part of Raheja Mindspace, the largest business park in the city.

The space will support team members focused on innovating the customer experience, strengthening our infrastructure, and managing our security posture. Office amenities will empower teams to bring their best selves to work, which include:

  • Collaborative coworking spaces

  • Space for mothers with 24x7 support

  • A gaming area

  • A gym and wellness room

  • Pantry goods and a food court

  • Access to public transportation

“Opendoor’s new office reflects Telangana's holistic initiatives to engage, collaborate, and drive multinational organizations to set up in Hyderabad. The company is looking to increase its employee base across its product, design, and engineering teams, who will help build end-to-end platforms, from operator tooling and finance to data analytics and machine learning capabilities. This will contribute to Telangana's existing vibrant ecosystem of global companies and startups, and create global opportunities for local talent.” Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, IAS, Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) and Department of Industries & Commerce of Telangana said. “We’re thrilled to welcome Opendoor in India and look forward to the company’s commitment to innovation and growth.”

Later this July, we will open another office in Bengaluru. This office will support teammates across departments focused on managing and modernizing our infrastructure. The team will enhance our transaction tooling and operational efficiency – helping execute our mission of transforming the U.S. real estate industry.

Lastly, we are continuing to grow our Chennai-based team. The office is located in the coworking space of Workafella Teynampet, complete with an open-air rooftop cafeteria featuring views of the bustling Anna Salai. The space is already home to hundreds of teammates from Opendoor’s Central Ops, Finance, People, Engineering, and IT teams.

A workplace for today’s innovators

At Opendoor, the challenges we are solving aren’t easy. We are changing the status quo for a trillion-dollar industry that impacts millions of people every year. That’s why we are focused on sourcing diverse, top talent across the globe.

Opendoor has been growing our teams in India for years, and the new offices will create a touchpoint for team members to come closer together, collaborate, and innovate. Embracing a hybrid work model, team members can work remotely and in the office, fostering the flexibility, work-life balance, and in-person collaboration needed for innovation. By empowering teams to tailor their work styles, we can thrive together — similar to the personalization and agency we provide Opendoor customers.
