We’ve been fortunate to have hired teammates that live, eat, and breathe our culture, from the startup mentality to acting from ownership to starting and ending with the customer. Even more fortunate is that this has been infectious, being observed and adapted as each new teammate joined.
As we are in hypergrowth having hired more than 1,000 teammates in nine months, we believe and know that scaling our culture requires more intention and a systematic approach integrating our principles into our behaviors and incentives. Leading the charge will be our People function, who we entrust to help build the guidelines and mechanisms to deeply integrate our values into how we attract talent, develop talent, and promote talent.
That is why I’m so excited to share today that Amelia Generalis is joining Opendoor as its Chief People Officer. First and foremost, Amelia believes in our mission and the impact we can have on the lives of our customers, the industry, and our teammates. Her vision and goal will be to build an organization that enables and empowers autonomy, mastery, and purpose in all our work and she will focus on ensuring we thoughtfully scale our culture from nearly 2,500 people growing to 10,000+ in the coming years.
Amelia has a depth of experience working with both Fortune 50 global brands and hyper-growth companies over the last 25 years. She possesses that unique balance of understanding the strategic pieces of people and talent, as well as a focus on results that we look for at Opendoor. Before joining Opendoor, Amelia was the Chief People Officer at 8×8, a public company helping businesses delight customers with a unified communications platform for contact center, business phone, video, and chat. Amelia redesigned the employee experience at 8×8 — from attracting talent to driving performance — and she saw the company through several key acquisitions. Prior to 8×8, Amelia was the SVP of HR at Model N, where she led the people integration of the largest acquisition in the history of the company. Amelia has also held executive and management positions at Success Factors (which was acquired by SAP), Anaplan, Electronic Arts, and Royal Dutch Shell. Amelia’s experience growing and developing large teams will be instrumental in this next chapter of growth for Opendoor.
I look forward to partnering with Amelia as we continue to grow a diverse, talented team that is committed to furthering this mission and transforming the real estate industry for generations to come.
