Empowering consumers with choice in their home buying or selling journey is at the heart of what we do. When we launched our partnership with Redfin last year, we offered home sellers in Phoenix and Atlanta the option to request an Opendoor offer as an alternative to selling their home on the open market.

Today, we’re announcing the expansion of Opendoor’s partnership with Redfin to 9 additional U.S. markets. With this expansion, we’re extending the promise of choice to millions more consumers who want options when making one of the largest financial decisions of their lives. In addition to Phoenix and Atlanta, Redfin customers with qualifying homes will now be able to consider Opendoor offers in the following cities: Charlotte, Jacksonville, Minneapolis, Nashville, Orlando, Portland, Raleigh, Tampa and Tucson.

For people like Greg Bluvas, an Arizona resident, having the flexibility to explore multiple avenues for selling his home was just what he needed. Greg is a father who works from home. When he needed to downsize from his family home of 13 years, he started considering options to sell without letting open houses interfere with his family schedule and work-from-home hours.

Greg started his journey by visiting Redfin. He was paired with a Redfin agent who presented him with the choice to work with Redfin’s leading online brokerage services to list his home on the market, or sell his home to Opendoor for an all-cash offer. The best part for Greg? He was able to consider all avenues to figure out what made the most sense for his circumstances without pressure or having to sign any contracts.

“Redfin was a great option had I wanted to pursue a streamlined conventional sale of my home. But what attracted me to Opendoor was how the process would fit into my schedule. The assessment process was as easy as snapping a few photos and the closing process was just as seamless. Opendoor not only helped me save time, but I was able to avoid concessions and have peace of mind with the flexibility of a longer move out period. The entire home selling process from start to move was stress-free and honestly, cathartic.”

— Greg Bluvas, Opendoor customer

Our partnership in the 9 new markets will work just as it has in Phoenix and Atlanta. Homeowners visiting Redfin’s website or mobile apps can request an instant offer from Opendoor as part of their homesale inquiry. Redfin agents can then meet with the homeowner to advise them on the home selling process, and help them compare the benefits of selling on the open market versus an Opendoor cash offer.

Homeowners can choose to sell to Opendoor to maximize convenience and control, or work with a full-service Redfin agent to list the home on the open market for a 1.5 percent listing fee. If the homeowner does not want to meet with a Redfin agent, they can choose to receive only the Opendoor offer. Redfin will receive a referral fee from Opendoor Brokerage for each customer who decides to sell to Opendoor.

We remain committed to working with Redfin to create a seamless, hassle-free selling experience for homeowners, and, with our growing partnership, we’re helping people unlock the freedom to move on their terms.
